How to play
You found a company and build production chains in a city: produce raw goods such as wheat, wood and oil, turn them into finished goods such as bread, furniture and toys, and sell them on the market or in your own shops. Each round runs for 70 days in real time against everyone else, on a market whose prices move as players buy and sell. Whoever has the highest Company Value when the round ends wins.
- Found a company. Choose its name, your city and a specialty branch, whose factories produce more. The city is yours for the whole round.
- Buy land and build. Buy zones in your city and put factories on them. Raw goods come first; every step after that turns two units of one good into one of the next, up to the finished goods.
- Hire and train staff. Buildings make most of their output from the people in them. New staff start at your head office, where they also train, and you pay their salaries.
- Trade on the market. There is one market for everyone, and prices follow supply and demand. Buy what your factories need and sell what they make.
- Run shops. Sell finished goods straight to the public. Every unit sold adds to your Company Value.
- Watch your money. Keep savings, take loans and invest at the bank, and pay your taxes. A company whose Company Value falls below 1 goes bankrupt.
- Grow. Upgrade your buildings as they age, open offices that sell services, list your shares for other players to buy, and earn dividends from the shares you hold.
- Run transport, if you like. Vehicles take cargo jobs between cities for extra money and Company Value.
Final rankings are added to your profile, and the career points ranking shows the best tycoons of all time. Then the game starts over, to give everyone a chance to win the next round.
Questions
- Is BusinessTycoons free?
- Yes. It is free to play in the browser. An optional paid VIP membership makes the game more convenient, but it never makes your company produce more.
- Do I need to download anything?
- No. The game runs in any modern web browser on a computer, tablet or phone, and can be added to your home screen.
- How long is a round?
- Each round lasts 70 days in real time. When it ends the final rankings are saved to your profile and a new round starts, so everyone has a fresh chance to win.
- How do you win?
- The company with the highest Company Value when the round ends wins. Company Value builds up as your company does business, above all by selling goods on the market and in your own shops. Career points carry over between rounds for an all-time ranking.
- Is it multiplayer?
- Yes. Every player shares one market, whose prices move each midnight with how much of each good everyone made. You can trade shares in other players' companies, join a team and talk in the forums.
- How much time does it take?
- The game moves on every 10 minutes whether you are online or not, so you do not need to stay signed in. Check in regularly to buy, sell and react to the market: a company left alone for too long is closed.
