BusinessTycoons

A business simulation game with real production chains

BusinessTycoons simulates a company from the ground up. You decide what to make, where to build, who to hire and when to sell, and every decision shows up in your accounts: production, salaries, loans, taxes and Company Value.

A company's factories, each producing with its staff

From raw goods to finished products

There are 22 goods in three levels. Raw goods such as wheat, wood, oil, cotton and fish come from fields, forests, oil drills and fishing fleets. Each step after that turns two units into one of the next good: two wheat make flour, two flour make bread; two wood make planks, two planks make furniture.

You can run a whole chain yourself, buy the inputs you are missing on the market, or specialise in one stage and sell to the players around it.

Buildings, land and staff

You build on zones of land in your city. Your first ten zones are free; after that each costs a little more. A building next to a road produces 30% more, and factories in your specialty branch 10% more.

Buildings only run with people in them. You hire staff, train them at your head office, pay their salaries and keep them happy, because unhappy staff stay at home. Buildings age and need upgrading.

The money side

The bank offers savings, loans of 7 to 28 days and investments. Taxes are paid along the way, and a company whose Company Value falls below 1 goes bankrupt.

The simulation keeps running

The world moves on every 10 minutes whether you are online or not: factories produce, shops sell and staff work. Market prices move each midnight with supply and demand.

Questions

How many goods are there?
22, from raw goods such as wheat and oil to finished goods such as bread, clothes, furniture, newspapers and toys.
Do I need to stay online?
No. The game runs every 10 minutes on its own. You check in to buy, sell, build and hire.
Can my company go bankrupt?
Yes. A company whose Company Value falls below 1 goes bankrupt, so debts and losses matter.
